GARDEN

Etheres / Living in Nature

DESCRIPTION

Every dusk, at the Etheres hotel complex in Nikiti, Halkidiki, a concert takes place. The sea breeze takes the role of the conductor and the plants of the xerophytic garden produce the musical notes.

“Etheres” is the concept of the Mediterranean garden that hangs high above the imposing landscape of Halkidiki. The garden’s concept was so representative that the owners decided to adopt the title as its official name. A resort created with passion, love and respect for people and the environment. A landscape that invites the visitor to live an ultimate experience of calm. To enjoy the panoramic view. To create a personal sanctuary of well-being within nature.

WHAT WAS REQUESTED

The owners of the hotel complex desired an outdoor area that would invite guests to experience it. To feel at home, as if they were in their own house. To maintain the sense of wild natural beauty, but in a refined way. A very important factor in the design was for the overall aesthetic to match the architecture of the buildings and the wider landscape, honoring the natural Mediterranean beauty.

THE GREEN SOLUTION

Analyzing all the environmental, perceptual, and cultural elements of the space, combined with the owners’ needs, we arrived at the concept. The architecture of the buildings and their position above the vast blue made the complex resemble a fortress on the hill. Thus, “Etheres” was born.

During the study, we mapped the paths of the hotel’s visitors and planned future interventions in the area. We selected plants with low maintenance and irrigation needs. Their placement was guided by the creation of special spots that evoke the feeling of a personal relaxation sanctuary.

The green solutions we implemented invite visitors to capture the moment. To experience the nature, culture, and tradition of the Greek land. The myth behind the landscape. The rejuvenation after contact with Mediterranean nature. And upon leaving, to take a little scent of Greece with them. As indeed, the owners share with their guests the oregano that grows in front of the buildings.
