In an impressive holiday settlement in Halkidiki, the garden of this country house is teeming with life, with butterflies regularly visiting the colorful landscape. The natural tapestry consists of Mediterranean plants with high drought resistance and a limited lawn area, for water and energy saving. The areas of natural shade, the plethora of natural aromas, and the visual feast of colors transform the house itself into an ideal summer destination.

WHAT WAS REQUESTED
When we first visited the residence, the lawn covered almost the entire outdoor area. In an area with hot and dry summers, the lawn needs large quantities of water to be maintained and extensive care. Also, as the owners pointed out to us, their garden “didn’t feel like a holiday”. They needed a colorful summer garden that would lift their spirits and offer them moments of carefree relaxation during the summer months.
THE GREEN SOLUTION
The instructions were clear. Summer, carefree feeling, colors, holidays. The creation of a Mediterranean garden with intense vegetation and reduced irrigation needs was the ideal solution. We reduced the area occupied by the lawn and planted Mediterranean plants that added color and aesthetically upgraded the space. The placement of these specific plants significantly reduced water consumption for garden irrigation. Furthermore, the space acquired the sense of carefree living that its owners so much sought. With the Mediterranean garden, they brought the magic of the Greek summer to their yard.
